About Me

Hi, My Name Is Sara

My work is about authenticity, compassion and growth.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and Therapeutic relationships are key in my approach. I bring warmth, empathy and a down-to-earth genuine way of being.

I am passionate about the work I do and the people I come into contact with. It is also a privilege to provide a space to help you find your way, gaining the insight and skills to help enable you to manage your life in a way that is more productive and fulfilling for you.

As a member of BACP, I am committed to continual personal and professional development and work in accordance with their ethical framework for good practice. I have experience working with many issues such as self-esteem, confidence, anxiety, depression, loss, trauma and many other issues that we, as human beings ALL struggle with from time to time.

I have experience working within different charities, as well as working as a school counsellor, I have experience working in a prison environment offering intense Custodial Support. My special interest centres around sexual abuse and rape. I continue to work with a charity that has provided me with excellent additional training and valuable experience working with trauma.

Although my core is person-centred Therapy, I also have training in CAT Cognitive analytic therapy and healing complex PTSD – The brain science of recovery. This enables me to work creatively, incorporating a number of different approaches, styles and tools in a bespoke way.

If recognising and expressing emotions is difficult, I can offer and introduce visual aids, such as emotion cards, drawings, and the use of stones and objects.

What I Offer

I provide a welcoming, friendly and confidential space that allows for genuine acceptance of who you are and your aspirations

A safe place where anxieties, fears and sorrows can be expressed and explored. I am here to listen and to hear your story.

It takes true courage to reach out for help. I understand that this can be daunting and can feel extremely overwhelming to engage with someone you don’t know and to share your most private and intimate thoughts and feelings with.

Making the decision to come to therapy is not always an easy one and taking the first step is often the hardest as you may be feeling apprehensive about the process and scared of being judged. You are not alone in this process. It is important to find the right counsellor who is a good fit for you. Someone that you can trust and feel safe with in a non-judgemental environment.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation where we can talk through your initial thoughts and feelings about therapy and discuss what is troubling you. This will give you the opportunity to see if I am the right counsellor for you and how we might work together . The first session is then an opportunity to meet and begin to get to know each other, for you to ask any questions about the counselling process and to talk about what your expectations, focus and goals are

Living A Fulfilling Happy Life Is Possible

Why Pink Lotus?

The lotus flower represents life and sometimes, circumstances can dictate how we feel and shape our wellbeing.

While we might find ourselves surrounded by feelings and emotions as well as conflict and hardship, the lotus flower is proof that we can gain clarity, regardless of the situation we find ourselves in. In the same way that we have to at times, the lotus flower rises from the mud in the murky water. It finds a way of overcoming the challenges it faces by growing and thriving, even when conditions can prove challenging.

As it emerges from the darkness of the pond and reaches towards the sunlight, it represents new beginnings. It encompasses strength, resilience and rebirth and the pink lotus is very much like us. By facilitating positive change, hope and growth, it is possible to lead a fulfilling life.

Growing towards the light. Symbols of strength, resilience and rebirth. Beauty that holds its self above the mud and water that is variously interpreted as imperfection. Generally represents spiritual journey and awakening Pink lotus symbolises enlightenment.
